A Human Reflection on Faith, Tyranny, and the Silence of the World

There are moments when words fail. When numbers—like 35,000 killed—become statistics, not shattered families. When smoke rises over Gaza, and it feels like the whole sky is choking. Yet, even in this smoke, something sacred stands tall.

Gaza.

That small strip of land, often dismissed as "blockaded," "besieged," "bombed," is far more eternal now.

It is the soul of the Ummah. The mirror of our faith. The final question that Allah will ask us: Where were you?

Gaza: The Qur’an Was Speaking About Them All Along

The Qur’an doesn't just tell stories; it reveals patterns—of truth and falsehood, of faith and arrogance. When Allah speaks about Bani Israel, it's not to single out a race but to warn the world about what happens when power meets pride and guidance is discarded.

“And We warned the Children of Israel in the Scripture, ‘You will certainly cause corruption in the land twice, and you will become extremely arrogant.’”

— Surah Al-Isra (17:4)

This isn't ancient history; it's a live broadcast from occupied Palestine.

Gaza is the ground where these verses come alive again. Where tyranny flies in F-16s and faith walks barefoot over rubble. Where the earth is soaked with blood, but the heavens echo with La ilaha illAllah.

They Tried to Break Gaza. Instead, Gaza Broke the World’s Conscience

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Do not say of those who are killed in the path of Allah that they are dead. They are alive, but you do not perceive it.”

— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:154)

Gaza is not dead

Gaza is alive with the names of martyrs that angels are recording. Gaza is alive in the Qur’an recited in broken homes. Gaza is alive in the child who still says Bismillah before drinking water from a melted ice block.

What's dead?

Our leaders. Our outrage. Our courage.

They told us the Ummah is 2 billion strong. But in front of Gaza’s suffering, we became foam on the ocean—loud, scattered, weightless.

“The nations will call one another to attack you, as diners call one another to their dish... and you will be many, but weak like foam.”

— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Sunan Abi Dawood)

This Was Never Just Gaza’s Test. This Is Ours.

We weep for Gaza.

But Gaza will speak for itself on the Day of Judgment.

It is we who will be questioned.

“And what is the matter with you that you do not fight for those who are oppressed—men, women, and children—crying, ‘Our Lord, rescue us from this land of oppressive people!’”

— Surah An-Nisa (4:75)

Where were our armies?

Where were our scholars?

Where were we?

We sent aid. We prayed. We posted. But we accepted the leadership of cowards, the silence of traitors, the excuses of colonizers in suits.

We begged the UN. We begged the West. But we forgot Allah is enough for the believers.

“O you who believe, if you support the cause of Allah, He will support you and make your feet firm.”

— Surah Muhammad (47:7)

Gaza did its part. They stood firm.

We... sat still.

Who Are the Real Believers? The Qur’an Answers

“Among the believers are those who were true to their promise to Allah. Some of them have fulfilled it (with martyrdom), and some are still waiting.”

— Surah Al-Ahzab (33:23)

“A people whom He loves and who love Him—humble toward the believers, strong against oppressors. They strive in the way of Allah and fear no blame from any blamer.”

— Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:54)

These are not verses for textbooks.

These are photos from Gaza.

The father holding his dead child and saying Alhamdulillah.

The mother who thanks Allah for choosing her son as shaheed.

The boy with no legs who still says, Insha’Allah, I will pray standing in Jannah.

They are the believers. And they are enough to shake the skies.

What Now?

We need to stop asking, "What can we do?" and start asking, "What are we willing to sacrifice?"

Are we willing to:

Boycott with sincerity, even if it's inconvenient?

Raise our voices, even when it's risky?

Hold our leaders accountable, even if they're from our own community?

Return to the Qur’an, not just in recitation, but in resistance?

Because Gaza is not the final story.

It’s the beginning of the next chapter of the Ummah.

Whether that chapter is revival or ruin—depends on us.

Powerful Reminders to Engrave on the Heart

“Do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror.”

— Surah Ibrahim (14:42)

“Indeed, Allah will support those who support His cause.”

— Surah Al-Hajj (22:40)

“The martyr feels not the pain of death, except like the pinch of a mosquito.”

— (Hadith, Musnad Ahmad)

“A group from my Ummah will continue to uphold truth, unharmed by those who oppose or forsake them, until the command of Allah comes.”

— Prophet ﷺ (Bukhari & Muslim)

Let us raise our hands and hearts in supplication:

"Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help.”

— Surah An-Nisa (4:75)

“Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:250)

“Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah.”

— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Sahih Bukhari)

“O Allah, protect the oppressed, grant them justice, and punish the tyrant who transgress Your limits.”

“O Allah, unite the hearts of the believers, strengthen their resolve, and grant them victory over the oppressor.”

O Allah,

Do not make us from the silent ones.

Do not let us die having done nothing.

Let us rise before You with something to show—

That we stood. That we spoke. That we did not betray Gaza.

Forgive our weakness. Replace our fear with strength.

And honor us, as You have honored the people of Gaza—

With unwavering faith, and the ultimate victory.

“So be patient. The promise of Allah is true. Let not those without faith shake your resolve.”

— Surah Ar-Rum (30:60)

Gaza🍉 did not fall. It rose.

Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel 🤲

We are the ones who fell. But there’s still time to stand.
