THE SYSTEM OF GREED ON THE RISE!

Greed, which stems from a desire to lead a materialistic life, is fast eroding our moral values. To earn in the right way seems to be a priority for only a few. The majority resorts to almost any method to earn quickly. With a better education and an elevated place in the social hierarchy, one finds ways to gather money through bribes, dowry and under the table dealings- providing black money.

In a country where corruption has become too easy for these bribes are given the names of ‘gifts’. Dowry is an acceptable social practice with the groom’s parents demanding an obscene amount of money, jewelry and property from the girl’s parents. Even the educated youngsters don’t protest against this practice of gaining easy money. It is a pity that often the higher education level and social standing people are behind this greedy business. With such practices, people are letting down their morals and principles. Today it is a myth that modern education leads to social reforms. We teach our children to earn money and not the morals of life. There is either a problem with our education system or we have become moral bankrupts or both.

The most shocking and violent examples of man’s greed, the country witnessed is:

It is sad that a country known for peaceful and hospitality spirit lost its conscience during this time and the people involved in these crimes forget the fine line between the right and the wrong for they are blinded with rage and revenge.

Rapes have taken a new name called “The Gang Rapes” “The Minor Girl Gang Rape” – It is a shame on our country to bow down so disgracefully in handling this issue. Nowadays rapists are being celebrated, decorated, supported and provided security; whereas the victims and the family are running for life and justice. Young girls - a few days old are being raped. Don’t know what the law is taking the action on the culprits; but the world is watching the victims being brutally killed and the poor family is running behind the police officials and the courts for their family protection and justice.  We haven’t seen such a desperate, immoral and Brutal phase of our country. May the Almighty have the mercy.

Nowadays we are witnessing the Mob lynching in the name of cow vigilance. Where is the country going? We need job opportunities for the youths. Instead, youths are being used as freelance killing machines. This is the frustrated generation of our country. Our country develops quite a lot of educated youths every year. But this is also a reality that we have a good number of dropout students because of social and financial conditions. These youths are being used as killing machines in the name of community and religion. This is an undeclared Emergency situation now. The world is busy with new inventions and progress; but our youths are busy with serving some politicians greed.

We cannot allow endorsement of violence, rapes, dishonor and brutal killings for the mere reason that a few political agenda is preserved. These incidents are organized and patented one. The rapists and the killers know very well that they are not going to be punished for their heinous crime.

Also we don’t have a law under the IPC section for mob lynching crimes yet. What kind of greed do these selfish politicians have in breeding this act? The atrocities on minorities, Dalit’s and women are increasing day by day.

The money looters are on the rise. We as tax payers are finding it difficult to run day to day life; and our tax money is being looted from the banks and the business tycoons hoarding safely and then running away from the country very easily.  The richest businessmen are exempted from taxes and day in day out workers are struggling to pay the rising taxes. The small scale industries, daily wages laborers, small business and street vendors losing their business day by day; and the rich are becoming richer day by day. The government doesn’t have time to answer the poor and weaker sections of the society.

A country’s overall growth and success is measured by the way its minorities and women are treated; But sadly our country lacks in showing up the rising graph of this development. Where has the greed taken our country? Are we losing our country in the hands of political greed?  There are many issues to cover. May be I shall pen down them later. Wake up India before it’s too late.
