Someone asked a man why there is so much poverty nowadays?
The answer :
I don't think there is as much poverty today than as there is
Nowadays noise. What we call poverty is actually the dissatisfaction and unfulfilment of the needs and aspirations of the people.
▪️A single school uniform would suffice for complete year.
▪️ People used to buy clothes for festivals and would use them for school colour dress day, weddings, birthday parties or any gathering.
▪️If the clothes were torn, they would sew them and wear them again and again.
▪️People never felt shy to wear old clothes then.
▪️Even if the shoe was torn, they would sew it again and again.
▪️ No-one had mobiles and internet, but people were emotionally connected.
▪️ People would ask for sugar, salt and pepper from every neighbours and nobody bragged about it.
Today ✓ By the grace of the Almighty there is a month's worth of goods in every house.
✓ School children have several pairs of uniforms, socks & shoes to wear everyday.
✓ If one has to go to a wedding, separate clothes, matching shoes & accesories are bought for.
✓ Today a walking youth who is crying for poverty has in his pocket money, expensive mobile and is well dressed
Those were the days when a man walked empty pockets and he was relaxed and could carry a smile on his face. Those were the days of poverty when there was no oil in the house to light a lamp they would burn cotton by dipping it in mustard oil. Those were the days when giving a party was not considered as richness.
°In today's world there is a poverty of desires. Today when we repeat to wear a dress, shoes or sandals, purse & jewellery...we start thinking we are poor.
And if you don't care about this, people you meet make sure to remind you how poor you are for not having extra new designer things. They come in disguise of relatives, friends, neighbours and in a broader way our society.
No matter how happy and contended life we are living, memories of the past are always a part of our mind.
* Poverty is the name of unfulfilled desires today. *
* We have become ungrateful, that is why the blessings seems less and we complain. * The truth is that in the past - the rankings were low - the social status was more or less the same - there was a lot of trust - there was a lot of mutual empathy - it was good to live together
➡️ whereas today there is loneliness, depression, competition.
Allah's blessings are abundant in this age, but thanksgiving, trust and mutual relations are often weak or broken.
