Have we progressed? If yes, up to what?
Why is that our daughters taught -
> it's OK to take the disrespect
> it's OK to get beaten up
> it's OK to allow someone to look down upon us...
Just to maintain and keep up the relationships! Rather why not teach them-
> to be positive
> to be respectful to oneself
> to not to accept if someone tries to demean you
> Why can't we teach our girls to differentiate between the right and the wrong.
> Why can't we teach our girls to stand for themselves when time comes.
We need to and must incorporate our upbringing in such a way that our girls don't feel lonely and helpless at times of difficulty. It's time to shift this cultural conversation. It's time to start talking about where this behavior comes from, and to think hard about what we need to do if we really want to change things. Let's start imagining a world without abusive relationships, and ask ourselves what it would take to build that world.
Let the young women in your life know that in a culture that profits from teaching us to hate ourselves, it's a radical act to love themselves and their bodies. Channel that spirit of teenage rebellion for good!
Let's start making our girls the pious lady with a very strong and determined will power.. As parents and adults, let's start living by a good example.
