Megalomaniac leader Vs Democratic citizens

Updated: Jun 2, 2020

Often a certain sect of people, get defensive when the subject of their privilege arises, as if you are supposed to feel guilty. We don’t want your guilt. We need your awareness. The burden of ending racism, casteism, inequality, injustice is not ours alone.

Slavery is over, concentrated power, wealth and a master race and master culture none of that is democracy. We have a sacred constitution that protects our constitutional, fundamental and human rights as it has to be. The preamble itself says we cannot hand over our rights to the power hungry politicians and we need to keep them holding accountable for their wrong doings.

These hungry politicians prefer the class system, the caste system, extreme inequality and poverty. Because keeping other people down, makes them feel superior. It doesn’t matter to them how people are actually living and how to better their lives. They are living through the achievements of their icons of money, power and cruelty and dripping arrogance. That’s why they love the fabric of their flag and illogical beliefs more than the human flesh and blood that live and die under it. And that is exactly what any religion prohibits you to do. How dare these politicians in power invoke in the name of the Almighty and His Messengers against the weak, the meek and the poor. All for the dirty and arrogant power that is soaked in the blood of children, men and women.

These leaders say they love freedom of Unchecked domination and their followers live out some paranoid revenged fantasy in case their superiority gets challenged. They protect their savage masters and campaign with them as heroes and when called out for war crimes they claim it to be somehow a political correctness and start the whataboutry. This goon squad works for the government that gives them illegitimate authority over the people. They march in lock step drunk with the abuse of power.

NO! You can’t have our democracy. You cannot make the country great by ignoring the laborers, daily wage workers, by shutting down small businesses, by wage slavery not now, not again and not ever. We, the people will not allow you to take away our democracy, because the truth wins. You can drown whatever communication networks we have and hijack all the apex institutions with some psychological warfare. You can keep suppressing voting rights of minorities, taking away their citizenship. Keep using your power to false multiply our votes, keep tricking minds of all angry, ignorant people in the name of supremacy and religion. You are coward and scared and you have proved that time and again by trying to suppress people with your power and misuse of power.

We are a democracy and it allows us to choose our government. The democratic government is ruled by the people and if the people coming to power by our vote try to silence the people’s voice, becomes oppressive and unaccountable; that’s Tyranny. When we make them accountable, that’s Democracy. And today’s leadership is against democracy. And the irony is they are not even trying to hide it. Today they are in power because of undemocratic electoral institution and they love getting votes from people and don’t get any representation and call that as they are enjoying free stuff.

When somebody approaches to you to knock you down, don’t stop yourself. Act whatever it takes to protect yourself. Because this is not preaching hate or violence, it’s common sense. The oppressor when he feels you are fighting back, they say you are preaching hate but that’s not true; it’s called self-defense.

This is not time for silence. If we want to be the part of the solution, then we need social and political consciousness. The system is set up to make you think your vote doesn’t count. Let’s not let the ongoing systemic detentions and arrests make us forget the ongoing systemic stupidity of the present administration.

Watching number of people getting killed only to be met with systemic injustice, passive speech, and empty words meant to pacify the uncomfortable ears. Let us not allow to hold our vote hostage and treat us as second class citizens. People who got caught in the act of murder are being protected by the administration, police and the government. They have made it clear where they stand.

Still a long way to go until justice and there's no guarantee. I don't agree with the violence that riots bring but I understand the hurt that led to this explosion of emotions. We are hurting as a nation. The pain is deep; the pain is fresh because we never really get a chance to heal from our wounds before we are being hunted down again. The tyranny of people in power makes one either get discouraged enough to quit altogether or inspired to dig even deeper into the soul.

Tell me, how does it feel when gravity surrenders its custody? There’s plenty more work for us to do. We need the epitome of courage to talk and stand with what is right and what is just. We literally need to do in every little thing we have, so when we tackle the big things we must be already conditioned to go big. Let them love us, hate us but no one can fade us. Because you know, the cat knows how to live his life, to the fullest, in one way or another. Always be appreciative of everything. Life truly is what you make it.

The lesson is, if you train people to demean and degrade themselves, you can oppress them forever. While there are others that benefit and predicate a system of inequality and injustice, we as a people must own and deal with the damage that we are doing to ourselves daily, in order to break free! Many of us are still wearing slavery and persecution shackles in our minds that needs to get reformed. Always remember, the most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed.

The world’s largest democracy - India - is now under scanner in maintaining its democratic character, with a population of 1.3 billion. Our single vote decides not only the composition of the government, but also the character of the Indian nation and the preservation of its democratic and pluralistic foundations. . The constitution’s rights provisions, however, are breached with alarming irregularity and impunity. Of these, civil and political rights are easily among the most abused provisions. The approach to domination of the people is to first take everything they have away from them, and then make them compliant with the demands of the rulers to get anything back again.

As India descended into religious and anti-Pakistan sentiment, the many failures of the BJP government were conveniently swept under the carpet.

• The promises for economic development and vigorous job creation never materialized in the past seven years.

• Failed to enforce economic changes to improve the lot of the majority of Indians and lift their standard of living with the ill-conceived and badly executed demonetization program.

• Farmers marched barefoot in the national capital to remind the country of the rural and agrarian distress, the suicides increasing every year and no government takes the note of it.

• The job situation in India has gone from bad to worse. The unemployment in India is at the highest it has been in 45 years.

• Some of the most powerful institutions of the country have been undermined.

• India's civil liberties have also taken a hit. Minorities have increasingly become the target of mob violence.

• Hate speech has been normalized, while human rights activism has been increasingly suffocated and at times even criminalized.

• Critical voices have been slapped with the anti-terrorist act and youths are languishing behind bars.

• We have become a nation that increasingly chooses to stigmatize its own citizens on the basis of caste, religion, and economic status in clear violation of the basic tenants of the Indian constitution.

• The mainstream media has become prominent trumpet to bang government’s failures as achievements and propaganda machines to continuously spread hatred and misinformation.

• Our history is being re-written, re-imagined to build the Hindu-nationalist narrative as the redeeming idea for the country.

We are becoming a nation of resentful hearts, small minds and constricted souls. There is something happening to our democracy which is mutilating the democratic soul. Increasing poverty, environmental degradation, crime and corruption are plaguing the society. Key institutions in India such as the judiciary, security agencies and EC have not been able to 'withstand' government pressure tactics. No doubt, the potential danger to Indian democracy and minority rights has never been so serious in the past seven decades of India’s democratic experiment.

But in the long years ahead, it will depend almost entirely on the collective will of the people, and on how they choose to square long-held tensions with democratic principles. Democracy requires continuous effort to thrive

Democracy has enduring appeal as a means of holding leaders accountable and creating the conditions for a better life.
