Parenting culture

We are surrounded by an entertainment industry that strongly gives in to gender stereotypes, and as parents and teachers it's important to point out the myths from the facts for the kids. The preference goes beyond toys and dress colours. Gender-neutral upbringing empowers kids to be confident in their choices and expression. It makes them openminded individuals who can have stronger conversations to fight gender stereotypes and biases as they grow up. The sense of healthy partnership and mutual trust and respect between parents is very important and goes a long way towards determining how a child sees gender roles in his/her own adult life. Maintaining an atmosphere at home where children are used to seeing their parents respect each other and their roles in their lives is equally important. Parents need to divide domestic chores equally among themselves so that children can learn that there are no gender-specific roles at home. There is a need to look at ourselves and think....Are we conditioning stereotypes culture at our homes & schools. A need to look beyond stereotypes in media and retail. It is very important to raise a generation that is empathetic, responsible, and respectful towards all genders There are inspiring & strong women; there are nonviolent brave men...why can't we talk about them with our kids. We don't need compromising women and violent men to be a role model for our kids. We need to stop - think and the start gender-neutral parenting. No doubt that the genders are different but there is a need to talk and live on Equity rather than shouting for Equality. Our roles define our equity and thus leads to equality.
